Overview
Cybersecurity student & system admin crafting systems that feel secure, fast, and human.
I'm Edwin Guerrero β a Boston-based security officer and cybersecurity student learning systems, networking, and security from the ground up. I tinker with Linux, PC setups, self-hosted services, and small-business security layouts, while also exploring web design and clean UI for dashboards and portfolios.
About
I grew up curious about how systems work β and what happens when they break. That curiosity turned into a path in cybersecurity, system administration, IT support, and web design. I like mixing hands-on lab work, real-world security operations, and practical projects like self-hosted services and tools for small businesses and families.
Right now I'm focused on: building a strong base in networking, operating systems, and security fundamentals, while actively studying cybersecurity and applying it through home labs, PC & device setups, freelance-style system admin gigs, and simple, clean web interfaces.

Projects
Built a security-focused lab running Linux with Pi-hole DNS filtering, VPN access, and basic monitoring. Configured firewall rules, reviewed network traffic, and practiced small incident response scenarios.
Deployed and maintained multiple Linux distros (Ubuntu, Arch, Kali) for hands-on learning. Configured SSH access, automated updates with cron jobs, set up user permissions, and practiced security hardening and basic scripting to manage systems more efficiently.
Working on the FS Guard idea: a local-first security stack for
small businesses and households/families. The design uses a
dedicated local server running an AI engine that continuously analyzes
logs, alerts, and events from routers, devices, and services. The AI tries to
understand what's happening, prevent intrusions, and apply zero-trust style rules
(nothing is trusted by default). If something looks like an intrusion or risky behavior,
the AI tries to contain or block it automatically and then escalates the
alert to a human so people and their data stay protected.
Brand concept: FSGuard.org β coming soon as a hub for
simple explanations, dashboards, and support for non-technical users.
Concept for a web-based accounting dashboard for trucking companies to track expenses, revenue, and loads. Focused on clean UI, simple navigation, and visualizing money in & out so owners can understand their numbers quickly.
Designed and built this responsive portfolio showcasing cybersecurity projects and technical skills. Implemented a dark/light theme toggle, semantic HTML for accessibility, and a layout that stays clean and readable on desktop and mobile.
Experience
Monitor facility security, respond to incidents, and coordinate with staff and law enforcement. Developed strong situational awareness, communication, and report-writing skills while protecting high-value assets in a high-traffic environment.
Setting up and maintaining Linux systems, Windows PCs, laptops, WiFi networks, and small-device services for personal and small/medium environments. Includes secure configurations, troubleshooting, software installation, light scripting/programming, and basic web setup for simple sites and dashboards, while helping people understand and manage their own systems.
Worked in fast-paced restaurants, balancing customer experience, communication, and teamwork β skills that translate well into security and IT when working with non-technical people and clients.
Building foundations in networking, security, and systems with a plan to continue into a bachelor's program focused on cybersecurity and related fields.
Intend to transfer in Spring 2026 to deepen my studies in cybersecurity, networks, and possibly AI-related systems, combining hands-on labs with advanced coursework.
Hands-on labs around the OWASP Top 10, data classification, monitoring, and security tools, with a goal of preparing for industry certifications and practical defensive skills. Included guided labs on defending and attacking lab systems in safe environments β testing web vulnerabilities, analyzing logs, and walking through basic incident response workflows from detection to containment and lessons learned. Includes Security+-style content where I'm currently scoring around 90% in prep material.
